Sweet 16 videography in Connecticut

A Sweet 16 film should sound like the night as well as look like it. This page covers the audio, edit formats and screening details we plan with you, from the entrance song to short clips she can share.

The entrance, filmed with its sound

The entrance is often the most planned moment of the party, with a chosen song, a reveal and a crowd that turns at once. Film suits it well, because the music, the cheering and the timing are the point.

We ask for the song, where she will enter from and who announces her. That tells us where to stand, how to avoid blocking the doorway and when the lighting or fog might change the look of the shot.

Ask the DJ whether a line feed to the camera is possible, and confirm anything about sound equipment with the venue.

  • Speeches and toasts

We plan to place a microphone near the speaker or take a feed from the venue sound system, depending on what the DJ and the venue allow.

  • Music from the DJ

Loud dance music can overwhelm other sound. We plan a clean recording of speech and tributes separate from the party mix.

  • Candle or tribute moments

Short spoken words need a close microphone. We ask if guests will be handed a mic or speak from the floor.

  • Room sound

Laughing, screaming and cheering are part of the memory. We plan to record some natural room sound alongside the music.

Questions before you decide?

Tell us what you want to make and where it will be used. We will talk through the plan with you.

Edit formats to choose from

The right mix depends on what you will actually watch and share. We do not set lengths in advance. We agree on formats and approximate length in writing before the day.

  • Highlight film

A paced edit of the getting ready, the entrance, the program and the strongest dance floor moments.

  • Full speeches and tributes

Uncut recordings of spoken moments, so family can hear every word.

  • Short vertical clips

Quick pieces for social media, formatted for phones and agreed on in advance.

  • Screening cut

A version suited to a family viewing or a party where the film might play on a screen.

Pacing and story

A film about a teen party works best when it moves. We think about rhythm: a quiet start with getting ready, a lift at the entrance, a slower stretch for the family program and then energy that builds to the dance floor.

If she has a favorite song or a visual style in mind, such as bright and bold or soft and cinematic, tell us. Her taste leads, with the family's wishes next.

Videos and slideshows on the night

Many Sweet 16s include a montage of baby pictures, friend clips or messages from relatives. If one will play, tell us when. We plan to film the room reacting rather than the screen alone, and we ask whether the montage file can be shared with us for reference.

Check with the venue about screens, projectors and any equipment needed, and with the DJ about timing. We plan around what they confirm.

Music rights and sharing

Popular songs are often under licensing rules, which can affect how a film is shared online. Music licensing is something to confirm, not assume. We talk with you about whether to use licensed tracks, tracks from a library or other options, and put the choice in the written quote.

Decide with the family whether the film is private, shared with guests or posted online. For guests under 18, check with parents or guardians before anything is public.

Files and delivery

Turnaround, formats and any extras are written into the quote before the day. Nothing is assumed, and we do not promise a delivery date here.

  • Online viewing link for the family.
  • Download of the finished film in a common format.
  • Vertical versions for phones, if agreed.
  • Optional extras, such as raw footage or extra copies, discussed in the quote.

What to ask on the first call

Bring these to the first conversation. The answers shape the coverage and the quote.

  • The date, venue and the shape of the party, including any program.
  • The entrance song and who will announce her.
  • Speeches, toasts, candle moments or a parent dance planned.
  • Whether a montage or video will play, and when.
  • How the DJ and venue handle sound, and whether a line feed is possible.
  • The feel she wants in the film, and any songs she loves.
  • The film formats you want, such as highlight, full speeches or vertical clips.
  • Who the film will be shared with, and anyone who should not appear.

Common questions

Will we be able to hear the toasts clearly?

We plan audio for speeches in advance, with a microphone or a feed from the venue system. Ask the DJ and venue what they allow so we can agree on a setup.

Can we use her favorite song in the film?

Maybe. Music licensing affects how a finished film can be shared. We talk through the options with you and write the choice into the quote.

Can we get short clips for Instagram or TikTok?

Short vertical edits are an option. Tell us at booking which moments she wants, and we agree on what to deliver in writing.

How long will the highlight film be?

Length is agreed before the day and depends on what you want to keep. We do not fix a length in advance, since parties and programs differ.

Do you film in low light?

Yes. We plan around dim rooms and colored lights. Tell us what the lighting will be, and we will adjust our approach.

Can we get the raw footage?

Raw footage is an option to discuss and is not assumed. If you want it, it goes into the written quote with the terms.
