Baby shower photography and videography in Connecticut
A baby shower is gentle and personal, so coverage should be too. Here is how to decide between photos, film or both, and what to sort out with the hosts and the parents-to-be before the day.
Choosing between photos, film and both
Think about what you will want to show the child later. A photograph of a grandmother holding the parent-to-be's hands is easy to keep on a shelf. A short film of the same grandmother reading her note aloud lets the child hear her voice.
Showers are often compact, so one person can reasonably plan both services together. That keeps the hosts from managing two sets of requests.
Photos only
Fits a small gathering where the aim is a gallery of the parents-to-be, the family and the decorated space.
Film only
Fits a shower with a reveal, read-aloud messages or advice cards where sound and reaction matter most.
Both
Fits a host who wants pictures to share quickly and a short film to keep, planned as one set of coverage.
The shape of a typical shower afternoon

Showers vary a lot. Some are backyard parties with food stations and lawn games, others are a living room with tea and a few close relatives. Some are co-hosted by friends, and some include both parents and a mixed crowd.
Ask the hosts for the actual run of the day instead of guessing. Typical building blocks are arrivals, food, a game or two, a reveal if there is one, gifts, a cake and a goodbye. We map coverage to the order you give us.
Questions before you decide?
Tell us what you want to make and where it will be used. We will talk through the plan with you.
Moments to decide on in advance
Ask whether your plan includes any of these, since each one affects where we stand and when we start recording.
- A gender or name reveal, and exactly how it will happen.
- A diaper game, guessing game or bingo that keeps everyone laughing.
- Messages written in books or on cards to read aloud.
- A special cake or dessert table.
- A blessing, prayer or tradition your family wants to include, if any.
- A family or generational picture with grandparents and siblings.
Protecting the parents-to-be's comfort
The expectant parent may be tired, may need to sit more than planned and may not enjoy being the center of attention for long. We build coverage that works around that, with short portrait moments instead of a long session.
Ask the parent-to-be what makes them feel at ease, and what they would rather skip. A host who knows those preferences can tell us before we arrive, so we are not asking them to repeat it on the day.
Guests, children and privacy

Baby showers often include very young guests, siblings and relatives of many ages. Decide with the hosts and the parents who may be photographed and filmed, and how files will be shared afterward.
Some parents want to keep early news, a name or a pregnancy off social media for now. Others are happy to share. Settle it with them before the day. Where children attend, check with their parents or guardians before any picture of them is shared beyond the family. If the venue has its own rules, ask it directly.
Where the shower happens
A living room, a restaurant, a rented hall and a garden each change the plan. Check with the host, homeowner or venue about when we may arrive, where we can set up and how gifts and food will be arranged.
Indoor rooms usually mean soft, mixed light. Outdoor showers raise questions about sun, wind and a weather backup. Whichever it is, tell us early so we can plan.
What affects the quote

The length of the coverage window, whether you want photos, film or both, the number of deliverables and any travel affect the quote. So do add-ons like a short social clip, prints or a second shooter, which we treat as options to price and confirm in writing before the day.
If someone will join remotely and you would like a livestream, raise it early. It depends on the venue's connection and the plan, and is not assumed to be available.
What to ask on the first call
Bring these to the first conversation. The answers shape the coverage and the quote.
- The date, location and an estimate of the guest list.
- Who the hosts are and who is our contact on the day.
- The order of the afternoon, including any reveal.
- Whether you want photos, film or both.
- What the parents-to-be would like, and want to avoid.
- Any guests or children who should not be photographed or filmed.
- Whether pictures can be shared online and by whom.
- Family members or keepsakes that should be sure to appear.

Common questions
Is a baby shower too small for professional coverage?
Not if you want it. A small shower can be covered with a light touch, and the plan scales to fit the space and guest list.
Can you keep a reveal secret?
Yes. Tell us the plan and who knows it, and we will be careful about what we say and share.
Who should be our main contact?
A host, usually, or a close relative. The parents-to-be can stay out of the logistics if they prefer.
Do we need to schedule portraits separately?
You can fold a short portrait moment into the shower, or book a separate session if you want more time. We can talk about which fits.
How are the files delivered?
Options such as an online gallery or shared video link are confirmed in the written quote, along with timing.
Can we add coverage later?
Often, if our schedule allows. Availability is only confirmed in writing, so reach out as soon as the date is set.
